Location and Parking
Where is the hall located?
Situated in the heart of downtown Ridgewood, the Knights of Columbus offer a convenient, elegant and spacious event venue just a few steps away from fine dining, shopping and the NJ Transit Train Station.
Where can guests park?
Guests can use metered parking on Hudson/Passaic Streets or the 275-space parking garage located at 25 Hudson Street (directly across the street from the hall). The Village charges the same rate for metered parking the street or in the garage.
Can I use in the small parking lot adjacent to the hall?
No. The small parking lot belongs to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and use is reserved for clergy, staff and parishioners. Vehicles may pull into the lot briefly to drop off/pick up food, beverages and supplies, but guests are not permitted to park vehicles during the event.
When and where do I pay for parking?
Parking fees are active at the following times and payment is made at a street kiosk or using the Parkmobile app on your mobile device:
Monday through Friday: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm (Free Afterwards)
Saturday: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (Free Afterwards)
Sunday: Free All Day
Hall Capacity & Setup
Do we have access to the entire hall?
Yes! The hall only hosts one event at a time. You will have exclusive access to the facility, including the spacious dining room, bar room, kitchen and rest rooms.
Do you have a commercial kitchen?
No. The kitchenette has a refrigerator/freezer, microwave oven and warming box for catering trays. Coffee urns, tea pots, and chafing racks are available. There is no stovetop/oven nor ice-maker.
How many guests can the hall accommodate?
The hall capacity is approximately 100 guests, with minor adjustments possible if approved in advance.
What if my guest count increases?
If attendance exceeds 20% of the original estimate with over 75 guests, an additional setup/cleaning fee will be deducted from the deposit.
Is a dance floor available?
Yes. A 13' x 13' parquet wood dance floor is available to rent.
What furniture is provided?
The dining room offers 60" round tables (each seating 8 guests), upholstered folding chairs and 72" rectangular tables for food service. The bar room offers 6 high top/low top tables (each seating 3 guests) with chairs/stools.
Are other supplies provided?
Linens, cups and plates, cutlery, serving utensils, ice, sterno fuel cans and other supplies are NOT provided. Please inquire about specific setup needs (i.e. easels, tables, chafing racks and trays, coffee urns).
Rental Guidelines
How long is a standard hall rental?
A typical event rental is 5.5 hours with the following schedule:
First hour: Food/supply delivery, furniture setup and decoration
Hours 2–5: Guest arrival, event time, and guest departure
Final 30 minutes: Event break down and renter departure
Time can be used as appropriate to the event, but guests must vacate and personal belongings/supplies be removed during the timeframe to avoid overtime surcharges deducted from the security deposit.
Can I add extra time to my rental?
Yes. Additional time before, during, or after the event can be scheduled in advance for a nominal fee. Extending time during an event may also be arranged based on host and hostess availability.
Is a walkthrough required?
Yes. Before signing the rental agreement, you are required to schedule a 15–20 minute hall tour to ensure that we meet your expectations.
Is a dance floor available?
Yes. A 13' x 13' parquet wood dance floor is available for a nominal fee.
How much does it cost to rent the hall?
Renting the Ridgewood Knights of Columbus event hall is an affordable option compared to nearby venues. Rental price varies based on date, time, event type and guest count. Contact us for a personalized quote!
How do I secure my rental date?
Your preferred date can be temporarily reserved after speaking to us about your event and scheduling hall tour. No event is confirmed until a contract, 50% rental payment and security deposit are received.
Food and Beverages
Can I provide my own food and beverages?
Yes. Renters are responsible for providing the food and beverages served by our professional staff.
Do you recommend local caterers/restaurants?
Referrals are available upon request, but we welcome all vendors.
Can I provide alcohol to guests?
Yes. Renters supply the beer, wine, liquor and mixers served at events (no beer kegs, please.) We do not charge a "bar" or "corkage" fee for alcohol at events. Gratuities are appreciated by our volunteer staff!
Only the host/bartender is permitted behind the bar and is required to serve beverages per our insurance regulations. Open bottles of alcohol and wine are not permitted in the dining room. The hall is not a BYOB and unable to reserve bottles for specific guests. Alcohol brought to the event will be made available to all guests.
By law, we reserve the right to check identification to ensure alcohol is only consumed by guests who are 21+ years of age.
Decorations & Entertainment
Can I decorate the hall?
Yes! You can decorate the hall for your event.
Are there any restrictions?
Items not permitted include: wax candles, confetti, glitter, fondue fountains, or cotton candy machines.
Can I hire entertainers?
Yes! DJs, bands, clowns, balloon artists, magicians, and entertainers are welcome.
Do you provide audio-visual equipment?
There are 3 televisions in the barroom and high-speed internet is available throughout the hall. You are welcome to bring other equipment to your event such as sound systems, photo booths, projection screens and karaoke machines.
Have an unusual idea?
Please check with us before finalizing any unique decorations or plans.
Staffing
Is a host/bartender provided?
Yes. A Host/Bartender is provided by the Knights of Columbus at no additional fee. Gratuities are welcomed.
What does the Host do?
You host will setup tables and chairs prior to the event and assist with your arrival. As a certified Bartender, the Host is responsible for serving guests and repackaging leftover beverages and supplies, discarding garbage/recycling, and cleaning the venue at the end of the event.
Am I required to have a hostess/server?
Events with 50 or more guests require a Server/Hostess.
What does the hostess/server do?
Your assist with setup, help during the event, and play a key role in cleanup.
Who hires and pays the hostess/server?
The Knights of Columbus will identify the Server/Hostess while you are responsible for payment of a pre-arranged fee at the event. Gratuities are welcomed.
What if I don’t hire a hostess/server?
Without use of a Hostess/Server, the renter is responsible for Events exceeding 50 guests without use of a Hostess/Server will be assessed a cleaning fee and you will be responsible for cleaning the tabletops, discarding decorations and supplies, and removing leftover food.
